Wendy’s – Everything You Need To Know!

Dave Thomas established Wendy’s fast-food restaurant brand in Columbus, Ohio, on November 15, 1969. On January 29, 2006, its corporate headquarters relocated to Dublin, Ohio. With 6,711 stores as of December 31, 2018, Wendy’s was the third-largest hamburger fast-food chain in the world, after McDonald’s and Burger King. The business announced a merger with Triarc Companies Inc., the parent company of Arby’s and a publicly traded firm, on April 24, 2008. The headquarters of Wendy remained in Dublin. Triarc was renamed Wendy’s/Group Arby’s after the merger, and then The Wendy’s Company. Visit here to check out  Wendy’s USA prices 2022.

Dave Thomas’s visits to Kewpee Hamburgers in his native Kalamazoo, Michigan, served as the inspiration for Wendy’s “old-fashioned” hamburgers. Square hamburgers and thick malt shakes were offered at Kewpee. In 1969, Thomas opened Wendy’s in Columbus, Ohio, with square patties that protruded from the sides of the circular bun, creating the impression that there was an excess of high-quality meat. After 38 years of operation, the Columbus facility, which had subsequently added a Tim Hortons, was shut down on March 2, 2007, as a result of dwindling sales. One of Thomas’s first investors was former Ohio State University basketball player John Havlicek, who eventually received enough income from Thomas’s business to live well in retirement.

Melinda Lou “Wendy” Thomas, Thomas’ fourth child, inspired the restaurant’s name. Until it closed, pictures of her were on display at the first Wendy’s restaurant. [Reference needed] In his memoirs, Thomas expressed remorse at naming the eatery after his daughter, saying that she “lost some of her privacy” as a result of people mistaking her for the business spokesman as it grew into a fast-food empire. L.S. Hartzog, the initial franchisee of Wendy’s, signed a contract for Indianapolis, Indiana, in August 1972. In addition, Wendy’s debuted its first TV ads in 1972, which were only seen in Ohio. The “Quality Is Our Recipe” motto was used to emphasize Wendy’s excellence in this series of advertising, which also included dancing hamburgers and an animated Wendy that resembled the company logo.
